Toni & Richard's Wedding Story

A bit about the proposal... When we were on holiday in Tenerife, the year prior to the proposal we found a lovely cliff side viewing spot. At sunset we walked back to that same spot the year later, Rich got down on one knee and popped the question.

How long did it take you to choose your venue?

We attended a wedding at the same venue 4 years prior to our big day and we instantly know then that would be the place for us.

Who supplied the men’s suits and was there a particular style you were looking for?

Ever since the proposal we had our theme in mind, rustic, lots of greenery, natural wood throughout, so of course we chose forest green suits. After months of searching just about everywhere we found the perfect suits on ASOS!

What did your Bridesmaids wear?

I have always had a very close circle of friends and they instantly knew they would be my bridal party! I had two maid of honours and two bridesmaids my first maid of honour Lucy, become my friend through work and she has always been by my side ever since. She has been with me and Rich through thick and thin and made us the proudest godparents ever! MY second maid of honour was Michele I want all through high school with Michele and I think of her as a sister she is such a huge part of mine and Rich’s life that Rich even jokes about wanting Michele to be his best woman. Sarah was a bridemaid we also became friends through work, but little did we know we used to go to party together as kids, Sarah is the friend who isn’t too serious but ALWAYS has your back! My last bridesmaid was my little sister Amy. Me and Amy have such a strong bond that of course she needed to be by my side on the big day! All bridesmaid worn a slightly different styles dress that fitted their style perfectly and all girls felt comfortable which was what meant the most to me. All dresses were from WED2B.

Saying yes to the dress, how long did it take to find “THE ONE”?

I thought I’d be the bride that went to every wedding shop known to man to find my dress. I went to WED2B with my bridal party, my mum and my mother in law tried on 4 dresses and ended up leaving on the day with the second dress I ever tried on! I had the dress for a year and a half before the wedding and just fell in love with it more and more each time I saw it.

Please tell me about your wedding flowers and the floral arrangements on your wedding day, what did you choose and why did?

The flowers on the day were just perfect! We chose a rustic theme and this is the only part of the wedding we did not make ourselves. The florist captured my vision perfectly. The bouquets and the top table centre piece were out of this world so much so that I have preserved my bouquet to keep forever!

Was there a particular theme you wanted for your wedding and how did you incorporate it on the day?

Again in fitting with our rustic theme, we DIY’ed the whole wedding. We created our own centre pieces with the help of the bridal party, adding wooden logs, jars candles and rustic flowers. My bridesmaid Sarah also made a rustic crisp wall which went down a treat on the day!

You picked the Everglades Hotel for your wedding day, what made this the ideal venue for you?

We wanted a smaller more intimate wedding and this venue was the perfect size for us. We also absolutely loved the set up of the venue and for us it wasn’t a million miles away from where our family and ourselves live which was a huge bonus.

From your gallery, which photograph made you smile the most and do you have a favourite from the day?

It is so hard to choose just one picture! But I must say the pictures of us walking back down the aisle after the ceremony just capture our feelings. Also the whole group wedding picture makes me smile to see all our loved ones together in the one place!

What advice or tips would you give couples planning their wedding?

Relax, take it all in and spend money on the two of you. It is so true what they say that the day goes by in the blink of an eye! Also get as early of a nights sleep the night before trust me it makes all the difference!

Wedding days often contain little personal touches and they are not always obvious to everyone, please tell me about how you made the wedding personal to just the two of you?

The most personal part of our wedding day has to be our first dance song. We aren’t the traditional type and our song just said it all we picked ‘follow you’ by bring me the horizon, our favourite band. I also had a dress change on the evening of the wedding although I fell in love with my ceremony dress I always pictured having a black wedding dress so that is exactly what I did once the evening guests arrived a changed into my black dress. My two favourite personal touches throughout the whole day were my bouquet charm with both my grandparents pictures (who have now passed) on their wedding days and also having a first dance with my mum.

Every wedding day has those unforgettable moments, what were your most memorable and best moments?

The first look with my dad in my dress is a moment I will hold in my heart forever! Also spending time with each of my bridal party in the morning before the madness of hair and make up. And the speeches we had, very short but sweet, speeches with such meaning behind them.

What song did you choose for your first dance and why that one?

We aren’t the traditional type and our song just said it all we picked ‘follow you’ by bring me the horizon our favourite band. The moment we listened to the song we knew that would be our song.

How did you go about finding your suppliers for the day?

Our florist was recommended to us by our sister in law, the make up artist was a friend from school and the hair styles is one of my closest friends, this made the morning of the wedding so comfortable for everyone. And yourself Stuart, myself and Rich came across your website and instantly knew you’d be the right fit for our day and we were both so happy when you confirmed our wedding date. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for capturing our day from start to finish.
